The annual crime statistics, released by police management in Parliament on Thursday, have been widely attributed to an apparent failure of the South African Police Service to fight crime. Opposition parties in parliament have expressed concern at the fact that the murder is reported to be at its highest in 10 years, with an average of 57.5 people being murdered each day in the country.
